Just LOVE It!

Just LOVE It!

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments I give you today are to be on your hearts.

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7 NIV

“There’s McDonalds! I just LOVE McDonalds! I see Chick Fil A! I just LOVE Chick Fil A! Whataburger! I LOVE Whataburger!”

These exact words come out of our youngest grandson’s mouth every time we have him in the car. He gets louder and louder with enthusiasm as each one comes into view. He is so excited he sometimes even reminds himself to use his “inside voice.” His contagious exhilaration washes right over us and makes us smile.

One morning, as I opened my Bible study book to the day’s lesson, I noticed the first passage of scripture came from Deuteronomy. “DEUTERONOMY!” I heard in my head. “I just LOVE Deuteronomy!” I started to look around to see who said that.

Deuteronomy, an Old Testament book full of great God commands, advice, and instructions, really gets my attention. I love finding all of the treasures in it. According to Jesus, one of the most important commands resides there.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul

 and with all your strength.”

It does not stop there, though. It goes on to say God’s words should be in our hearts. We must share them with others. We need to make them part of our conversations (even while on the road, I might add).

Wow! What if our enthusiasm for God’s Word mirrored that of my grandson’s for fast food places? We would want to let others know about it excitedly. We might even get a little overexuberant from time to time. The Bible! I just LOVE the Bible!

Father, we adore the amazing wisdom of your Word. It brings us straight to you. May sharing our love of your wisdom bring others to you.
