Restored

Our friendship with God was restored.

Romans 5:10 NLT

Frenemy… I am not sure that this is really a word.

But have you had one?

This is someone who may be an enemy or may be a friend.

Sometimes when you first meet someone, you are not sure how this relationship will go.

When I consider my relationship with God, I am shocked by what Scripture reveals about how He first perceived me.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God (Romans 5:8-11 NLT).

When Jesus died for me, I was not even a frenemy with God… but a definite enemy!

While an enemy, a sinner, God sent Jesus Christ to die for you and me.

Now would you do that for an enemy? No, I would not either!

But God did. He sent Jesus to save my life… and your life! And Jesus did it!

Our friendship with God was restored by Jesus, too.

We are not just a frenemy… but a flat-out friend with God because of Jesus!

How are we to respond?

Rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ made us friends of God!

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… whispering “Because I love you, I sent Jesus to pay the price for you. Rejoice! Jesus has saved your life and restored you to Me bringing us into a wonderful new relationship.” Thank You, Lord, for all You have done for me! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
