Trust in the LORD - acknowledge Him in all you ways

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Decisions, decisions. When the bonds of trust between humans have been broken, changes in your life will force choices out into the open. Do you continue as you were? Are the new opportunities God’s provision? How do you cope with the total disruption to your ways?

Lysa TerKeurst, in her book The Best Yes, suggests weighing the pros and cons of each opportunity against the other to identify pertinent challenges, and then letting the Lord help you with perspective. Take all your choices to God before deciding. You can count on the wisdom you glean from time spent with Him and in the Word. Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed (Proverbs 16:3).

Once you have heard from God and made your decision, own your decision. Don’t second guess it. No choice is perfect—there will be hurdles to jump which you can trust God to get you over.

Ah, friends—where do your friends fall on your trust barometer? Some will have already gotten your goat with their linear thinking, although well intended. Some will be masters of a listening ear. Some will add wisdom to their empathy. You will easily identify who to bounce your woes off and who to politely thank for their concerns.

And keep an eye out for the unexpected, for the stranger God will send your way who will be sensitive to your plight and know how to make it better. Never fear, she is out there, ready to wrap her arms around you and pray with you and get you to the one who can help with the unknowns.

Leave it to God. He’s got your best interests at heart, despite total upheaval of your life. Count your new endeavors a mission field.

Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight
yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your
way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness
shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
