Let The Race Begin

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12-14

My Dad loves watching NASCAR racing. The competition between the mighty roaring engines of speed gets him all excited. He enjoys the anticipation of watching the cars race hundreds of laps, going at top speeds up to two hundred miles per hour, and fighting to gain the ultimate victory.

Our Christian walk can be very similar to a car race. Once you accept Jesus as your Savior and invite Him into your heart, you are given the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the “engine” that powers your daily life. Once you step out in obedience, and get on the track God has laid out before you, the true race begins.

As a small child I accepted Christ as my Savior. However, it was not until college I understood what being a Christian really was. God brought girls into my life that taught me how to have a quiet time, to pray in all circumstances and listen to music that would glorify Him. During my college years, I experienced fellowship and worship for the first time.

Little did I know, God was using my growth in college to prepare me for my future race. Three years ago, He called my husband and I into leadership at our church in the college ministry. Dear

Father, I love the way You work and prepares us for Your purpose. Your ways will always lead us to a victory race!
