Do You Emoji?
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Probably by now you have seen the cute little smiley faces that come with texts. These are called, emojis. The younger generations communicate all kinds of things with these little pictures. There are emojis that cover the entire spectrum of feelings, and there are even rules that go along with using the right emoji. The intensity of the emotion might be expressed with repeated emojis. Emojis make all the difference to those who use them prolifically to convey just the right feeling or intent to the other person. And how you communicate often depends on the status or depth of the relationship.
What emoji would you be sending to the Lord today? Where is your relationship? If we are honest, most of us haven’t been spending the time that it takes to develop our relationship with God. To be clear - there’s no judgment here, there is only the encouragement that we would benefit in countless ways if we would just surrender our hearts and our time to HIm.
We have a difficult time sitting still without thinking about what is next. We are highly future-oriented. We have plans, we know where we’re going or what we’re doing next. When our thoughts are so inclined to the future, we are not enjoying our present. I agree, we have to have plans, but are you sitting in the present long enough to enjoy God’s presence? Even in this phrase we are reminded that we meet God in the present. In the now.
I want to challenge us to really focus on enjoying the present, which includes spending time in God’s presence. I’ll be the first to admit that it is not easy to sit still. We regularly go, go, go. But it’s in the present where we find God.
Lord, remind us to enjoy Your Presence in the present. Remind us that our future is nothing without you, so we can enjoy our nows with You.
