Love Your Neighbor

Love Your Neighbor

Of all the commandments, which is the most important? The most important one, answered Jesus, β€˜is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.’

Mark 12: 28-31

One of the exciting things my husband and I get to enjoy as leaders in college ministry is having socials at our house. We love having our home filled with students, fellowshipping with each other, conversing over a home-cooked meal, and laughing as we play entertaining games. Seeing their smiling faces of appreciation warms our heart.

Having our students here on a regular basis is enjoyable; however, the one thing my husband and I get super excited over is seeing a student we have not met before. We absolutely love seeing new faces come through our door. Making friendly conversation and showing love through hospitality fills our heart with joy.

As I think about Jesus commanding us to love our neighbors, I am reminded of the times we have welcomed new students into our home. What a honor it is to serve!

Dear Father, Thank You for opening the door that allows me to show the love of Christ to so many students. Continue to prompt me to notice opportunities that come my way.
