It’s Not Complicated

It’s Not Complicated

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9 (ESV)

Almost daily, while at work, I encounter a tedious battle. It’s the battle of gaining access to websites. First, I enter the website address. Once there, I type in my username and password.  Then I find out that I must reset my password because I haven’t visited that site in over thirty days. I’m running out of new password options (and patience), but I try one more time. After my password is accepted, a verification code is required. I must choose to receive the code by cell phone text or email.  I choose by text because it’s faster.  I wait for the text to come through, then enter the several-digit code into the appropriate box before it expires and finally click “OK”. Next, the security questions must be answered correctly. Finally, I’m at the Home page and I must remain active on the site so that I’m not automatically logged out.

Can anyone else relate to how complicated and time-consuming this process is? I work in healthcare so there are extra security and privacy mandates. We need the safeguards to protect our identities, our patients’ identities, and our business resources, but it’s also frustrating for me since I depend on website services to do my job.

What if it was this complicated to gain entrance into God’s kingdom? Thankfully, our heavenly Father made it as simple as calling on Jesus. God desires a humble, contrite heart, and our trust in him to openly declare that Jesus is Lord. For by grace you have been saved [delivered, preserved] through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8 ESV). Once we are made new, we live in the assurancethat God will never leave us or deny us access into His throne room.

Thank you, Lord, for making it simple for us to enter and secure a forever relationship with you.
