Completed Projects

Completed Projects

God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won’t stop before it is complete on the day that Jesus Christ returns.

Philippians 1:6 CEV

I am the queen of unfinished projects. I started painting the rooms in my house a couple of months ago. Then life happened, and I haven’t gotten back to it. A chair sits in the corner I’ve been hoping to recover. I removed the old fabric and bought new fabric. I ran into a couple of problems. I am trying to decide how best to rectify the issues. So the chair sits unfinished, not far from the paint cans and brushes.

Unlike me, Jesus finishes what He starts. He won’t stop halfway through. While the disciples one day were concerned with making sure Jesus was eating, Jesus remained focused on His mission. My food is to do what God wants! He is the one who sent me, and I must finish the work that he gave me to do (John 4:34 CEV).

Jesus accomplished many good works. He fed the hungry, healed the sick and preached to many. I might have stopped for a while, but not Jesus! He was determined to finish all His work.

As Jesus was nearing His impending death, He prayed, I have brought glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do (John 17:4). Shortly after praying, Jesus was arrested, sentenced and nailed to a cross.

Even as life was draining away, Jesus remained resolute. He would finish His work! He fulfilled every prophecy written about Him. He provided care for His mother. He paid the penalty for all of our sins--yours and mine.

“It is finished!” Jesus exclaimed. His work was done. Then He bowed His head and gave up His spirit (John 19:30 NLT).

Now God works in us. We may be unfinished projects, but we know that He who began a good work in [us] will carry it on to completion (Philippians 1:6).
