Dry Bones Come to Life

Dry Bones Come to Life

“Then you will know that I am the Lord”.

Ezekiel 37:6

Are you familiar with Ezekiel’s experience with the dry bones? The Lord showed Ezekiel a valley full of a ‘great many’ dry bones and told him to prophesy to them: “I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord” (Ezekiel 37:5-6). And that is just what God did!

I have some dear dear people in my life who are dead. They are dead because they do not have the life of Jesus in them. I have prayed many years for their salvation, and at times, I feel hopeless. But these verses encourage me. They tell me that there is a PROCESS! As Ezekiel prophesied, the Bible says that there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone...tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them (Ezekiel 37:7-8). Those bones didn’t go from dry separation to breathing humans in one step. There was a process, and did you notice?  There was a noise...a rattling of bones.

So…I’m listening. Where is God at work in the lives of my dear ones? Is he drawing and pursuing and whispering His love and grace to them? Once the bones come together, the tendons and skin must be added before God breathes the breath of LIFE into them. I want to hear those bones rattle!!

Has God asked you to prophesy to dead bones? He has asked me to speak the truth of His Word to the lost world…to tell them of LIFE and Hope that can only be found in Jesus. If I listen, I can hear the beginnings of new life as He does the wondrous work of salvation.

Lord, give me the boldness of Ezekiel to do all you ask me, even when it seems useless.
