Small Things

Small Things

Your Father Knows Exactly What You Need

Matthew 6:7-8 NLT

I used to think that God didn’t want me to ask Him to help me with the small things in life because I thought prayer was reserved for only the big things.

In God’s kindness, He let me know His truth… while gently correcting me by His Word.

It seems that I am not the only one who did not understand how or what to pray.

Jesus explains prayer here and says…

When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners…

But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to the Father in private. Then, your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! (Matthew 6:5, 6-8 NLT).

Jesus lovingly says to pray what I need.

So, it is okay to be direct in the big things and even in the small things.

I am not to make a big scene in public, but I am to pray… privately.

In the quiet is where I best hear His small still voice in my heart.

I don’t have to be wordy, talk Him into it, prove it, or convince Him by pleading my case.

If I don’t know what to say… I just ask Jesus.

Jesus knows… before I even ask Him.

I now trust that Jesus loves me and He leads me in what to pray.

And then… Let it go.

I freely give it to God.

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… reminding me that You love me and already know what I need before I even ask You. Lead me in how to pray, even in the small things. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
