Speaking from the Heart
Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
Matthew 6:6 NLT
I quietly shut the door behind me. I needed to be alone… to pray.
My heart was hurting from a difficult conversation.
I needed to process.
What had just happened?
Jesus has a reason for saying…
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you (Matthew 6:6 NLT).
When there are distractions, I have a harder time understanding my own heart and hearing the Lord speaking to me.
When I am in private and it is quiet, I can process better where I can, ask the Lord the hard questions.
Jesus is very wise and knows His answers and comfort will help me.
Can you relate?
When I am really struggling through something, I use a journal to write down my questions, and helpful Scriptures Jesus brings to mind.
I write down the answers He gives me which are valuable now and later.
Then, I pray.
In my solitude, I ask Jesus to fight the battle for me.
My own personal “war room” is the place where Jesus promises me, if I will pray in the way He is instructing in Scripture then, the Father will see me and reward me.
God sees me.
God rewards me.
This promise is for you too.
Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… help me be obedient to Jesus’ instructions in how to pray. Lead me to a private place so that I can be alone with You. Teach me, so I can receive Your reward. Thank you for seeing me and hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
