Rooted in Love
our roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
Ephesians 3:17 NLT
Recently, we had a fun day visiting a nearby tulip farm. Rows and rows of beautiful brightly colored tulips!
It was clear and sunny with a cool wind as we took pictures of our little granddaughter, plopping her down in her cute yellow outfit among the flowers! It was adorable!
We took home fresh cut flowers that cheered up the room for several days… but sadly… their temporary beauty is now fading.
The Lord called to mind a psalm that contrasts the flowers with God’s love.
…like wildflowers they spring up and blossom, but a storm snuffs them out just as quickly, leaving nothing to show they were here. God’s love, though is ever and always, eternally present to all who fear him, making everything right for them and their children as the follow his Covenant ways and remember to do whatever he said (Psalm 103:15-18 MSG).
As bright and beautiful as flowers are, God’s love is so much better – it is ever, and always eternally present!
The psalmist also shared the strength of God’s love…
As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is his love to those who fear him. And as far as sunrise is from sunset, he has separated us from our sins (Psalm 103:11-12 MSG).
The visual of the brightly colored rows of tulips is a pleasant reminder that there is so much more ahead with the Lord who loves me with such a strong, never-ending love!
Just think, His love is so strong and beautiful that everything else pales in comparison!
It is this love from the Lord that fills me and keeps me strong…
Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong (Ephesians 3:17 NLT).
In God’s word, I love the contrast from the flowers that fade to the roots that grow down into the Lord’s love producing a forever strength – that is eternal and so much more amazing!
Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… whispering, “Trust My forever love for you! It is strong and more beautiful than you can imagine!” Lord, please fill me and strengthen me by Your eternal love. Help me trust in You. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
