Jesus Loves You – Wind Chimes
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
John 3:8 NIV
I love wind chimes. The soft music they make as the wind blows is so soothing to me. I live around several people who have wind chimes and, as the wind blows, the chimes play such a beautiful symphony.
Sometimes I find myself trying pick out my wind chimes in the group. One day during my devotional time the wind gusts got strong, and I could hear my wind chimes playing their own tune.
I had just started my prayer time when I thought about how we cannot see the wind but feel it and hear it through the wind chimes. It made me think about the Holy Spirit – we cannot see Him, but He lives in your heart. We feel when Jesus moves in our soul to do something for someone, or we get peace in the middle of a crisis that we cannot explain.
Was the wind blowing the day Mary went to the tomb? Was it through the wind that Jesus said her name? Facing some difficult health challenges, I find myself sometimes wondering if Jesus is hearing my prayers. The wee hours of the morning are the toughest – when Satan starts working in my mind, making me feel inferior, frustrated, or fearful.
I wonder how many times I have been so caught up in my problems or thoughts that I have missed that soft voice of Jesus calling my name, telling me to “not be afraid” or “Be still – I will never leave you.”
When you feel the wind blow or hear a wind chime, let that be a reminder that God is near to you and He will never let you fall.
