Praise the Lord
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness…Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
Psalm 150:1-2,6 NIV
I love to watch a woman in our neighborhood when she goes for an exercise walk. She does not simply walk. I think I would describe it more as a dance. She does it with great enthusiasm and seemingly little care as to what others observing her might think. Her enjoyment of her activity is quite evident and inspiring.
Likewise, I love to see people really worshiping the Lord. Their countenance glows -- eyes closed, hands raised -- they focus on the importance of praising God, not impressing man. I may not be quite as demonstrative as some in worship, but even still, every once in a while, my watch asks if I would like to “record my workout” during it. That gives me a smile for sure.
Psalm 150 says to “let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” I have a song in my heart because of God and everything He has done for me. He loves to hear it. As believers, we all have that same song. He loves to hear our voices lifted up to him Individually and corporately as well.
Praising God is our love language to him. What glorious love He has shown to us and what a wonderful way to acknowledge his greatness. It shows our admiration for him.
No matter our manner of doing it, the privilege of worshiping God brings him and us nothing but joy.
“For great is the Lord and worthy of praise.” 1 Chronicles 16:25 NIV
Father, we have breath so we praise you. You are great and so worthy of it.
