Who is Like God?
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
Micah 7:18
Micah, the prophet, poses the question, “Who is a God like you...?” This question is asked at the end of his short book to emphasize the truth he has clearly portrayed: There is no God like the Lord God. Throughout his book, Micah describes wondrous attributes that set God apart from all:
God is Sovereign and holy. He is majestic and mighty in power. All things make way for His coming. He is just and His judgments are sure. God is the deliverer and Shepherd of His people. He is the omniscient, eternal, righteous Ruler. He is the returning King.
God is Healer, Restorer, Rescuer, Redeemer, and the strength of His people. He is the promised One, whose origins are from old. He is the sanctifier and peace of His people. He is Savior and Light. He is a God of wrath, and yet the sure defense of His people. He is the God of wonders, exalted and to be feared. He is the most merciful forgiver and remover of sin. He is the compassionate, true Promise-Keeper. He is the God who delights in showing mercy!
Micah’s book is filled with the glory of God. He leaves no doubt that there is no one like Jehovah. Micah could testify of God’s attributes, because he knew Jehovah well.
How well do you know this God of glory? How often do you testify of God’s attributes to others? If your life is the only picture of God someone sees, what are you teaching that person about God’s power, faithfulness, compassion, mercy…?
How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no
God but you... (2 Samuel 7:22). I pray that your glory might be revealed through all your people, especially me.
