He Calms The Storm

He Calms The Storm

One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into the boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake so that the boat was being swamped and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him saying, “Master, we’re going to drown.” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters, the storm subsided and all was calm.

Luke 8:22-24

My family and I received some terrible news a few months ago. My nephew was no longer with us. The event shook my family to the core.

The emotional storm that followed seemed very difficult to understand and at times seemed overwhelming. The dark cloud that engulfed my family made it very challenging to see clearly. All we knew to do was cry out to Jesus.

When the disciples realized they needed Jesus, He was there to give them peace over the situation. He was still sovereign and still in control in the midst of turmoil. In our grief stricken panic Christ gave us peace because He is the Prince of Peace. His loving arms were there comforting my family through kind words from other family and friends, through delicious food delivered to our home, and through many prayers lifting us up. When darkness was around us during our grieving, God was there to calm the storm.

Dear Father,

I am so thankful that we have a Savior to turn to when we are going through hardships and trust He will calm the storm in our path.
