My Joy
When the words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight for I bear Your name, Lord God Almighty.
Jeremiah 15:16
Joy is not found in our circumstances. Lord knows that hardships, difficulties, and disappointments will come our way. We are given tools that can help us find joy in the midst of our circumstances. When we focus on reading God’s word, praying to Him and serving others we can find joy.
Focus on God’s Word: When Jeremiah ate the Words he experienced joy. Jeremiah absorbed what the Lord told him. He trusted God at His word.
Paul reminds us of this in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Focus on Prayer Time: Praying to the Father redirects our focus and allows us to draw closer to Him.
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples regarding prayer. “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy may be complete” (John 16:24).
Focus on Serving Others: Taking our eyes off our situation and helping others can also bring us joy.
Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper, whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
Psalm 126:5 also encourages us, “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.”
Dear Heavenly Father, remind me that through the Holy Spirit, I can experience joy regardless of my circumstances.
