The Way

The Way

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

My family loves taking trips. We have had the wonderful opportunity to see God’s beautiful creation by the oceans, high up in the snow-capped mountains, and deep underground in dark cold caves.

Locating these wonderful destinations have gotten a whole lot easier over the years. Early explorers used to navigate by stars and compasses. Growing up, my dad used maps and atlases. Today we have quick access to GPS location with our mobile phone. Finding “the way” to anywhere is as easy as a click of a button.

When Christ shared with His disciples that He was leaving but that one day He would come back for them. He assured them that they knew “the way to the place where I am going” (John 14:4). Thomas was very confused by Jesus’ comment. He states, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” (John 14:5). Jesus then responds with our key verse, “I am the way.” The Lord Jesus makes it very clear that he does not teach a way to God but that He is the way to God.

In fact, the religious leaders would give early Christians the title, "followers of the Way” (Acts 9:2) or “those who belonged to this Way” (Acts 22:4).

Thankfully it is not difficult to find our way to Jesus. He is right beside us ready for a relationship with us. In Revelation 3:20, Jesus says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with that person and they with me.”

Have you found your Way to Jesus?

No directions needed, just an open heart to His saving grace!
