Faith Garden
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:18
It’s fascinating to watch a garden grow. My parents have a huge vegetable garden that they plant in late Spring. I find the process interesting how it takes different types of plants to finally bear fruit. Each plant bears fruit based on their individual schedule. The tomatoes and cucumbers plants sprout up first followed by the seedlings of peas and beans. Each vegetable has its own unique response to sun and water, and knowing this information can provide a great harvest. Of course, the most enjoyable aspect of the garden is getting to eat these delicious vegetables!
Throughout Scripture God uses this idea of a garden to describe our Christian walk. As believers we each have a role to play in God’s “garden.” Some of us plant the gospel seed by introducing Jesus to people. Others bring “water” by speaking words of encouragement and prayer. Both are vital to the Spiritual growth of an individual. However, it is ultimately God who allows the faith to grow.
The apostle Paul says it this way, “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor”(1 Corinthians 3:7-8).
It’s important that we put God’s word into practice. Be an example for others to follow. Speak about the hope you have found in Jesus. We all have a part to play in spreading His good news in God’s garden.
Thank You Father for allowing me to be used in Your garden.
