Walk Like Jesus

Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 2:6

My parents live in an historic home settled on fifteen acres surrounded by thick woods and a beautiful pond. It is a wonderland for my girls to explore and play because there is always something happening. Whether it is watching deer by the back door, riding on the tractor to pick up tree brush, or walking to the pond to check the turtle trap, it is a place of adventure and excitement.

One particular day the girls were going down to the pond with their Papaw to check the turtle trap. The grass was knee high and there was a slight fear that snakes could be hiding. My Dad told the girls,” Follow Papaw’s steps”, as his big feet would lay down the grass for them to step on. As long as the girls followed his steps they would be protected from what could be lurking.

Jesus also laid down a path for us to follow when He came to earth. Just like my father wanted the girls to follow his steps, God wants us to follow His Son. Jesus Christ came down to restore our relationship with God. The more we walk in His truth, the greater knowledge of Him we will receive. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in His paths (Micah 4:2).

Dear Father, Help me to follow Your steps for my life and be a Godly example for others to see.
