What If?

What If?

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

A month or so before a particular day, I had made arrangements to take off work to go to a meeting at church. In my excitement that morning, I chose to leave my house early.

On my way to church my low tire warning light came on right in front of a tire store. I debated whether to stop or not. “Something” told me I should so I turned around and headed back.

My tire ended up having both a nail and a screw in it. It had to be fixed right then. What if I had kept on driving? Would I have had a flat somewhere on the road?

I arrived at the meeting just in time and thoroughly enjoyed it. What if I had not left my house early that day? Could I have made it on time?

During the meeting, my mother texted to tell me my dad had fallen and ended up in the emergency room. I asked her if I needed to come help. She had a doctor’s appointment already scheduled for herself so she did indeed need me to come sit with my dad. What if I had not taken the day off from work to go to the meeting? I would not have been off early enough to relieve my mother.

I could not have known what would occur that day, but God did. He directed my path and worked out all the details just right.

God, I do not believe in coincidences. I trust You for guidance because You know what lies ahead.
