His Light

His Light

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Psalm 119:105

One of the fun adventures I got to enjoy with my daughters as a Girl Scout Troop Leader was our camping trips. We had many opportunities to camp in a scout’s backyard, camp by the lake, and even camp at SeaWorld in San Antonio. On each of these trips, one of the most essential items to have was a flashlight.

The flashlight is a necessary tool to have as you are walking along the trail in the dark. You never know when an animal might jump out behind a tree or a creature is slithering or crawling on your walking path. It is important to be ready for the unexpected.

Just like a flashlight is important to have when camping, the same holds true with God’s Word in your daily life. It is a necessary tool to have when Satan wants to slither his negative words in your mind or try to steal the joy from your heart.

If you keep God’s Word close and use it daily as you travel through the “trails” of life, then you will be well equipped to handle what comes at you. The psalmist reminds us, “The unfolding of your word gives light. It gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130).

God’s Word is a lamp and a light that is used in the darkness of this world. Do not be left in the dark without His light!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your Word and how it can help us in our time of need.
