It is Worth It!
Receive now in return…
Mark 10:30 NLT
Have you tried to take a toy from a toddler, and she doesn’t want to give it up? It may be naptime or perhaps you need to leave from playing with a friend, but no matter what you try, you cannot pry those little fingers off of that toy without many tears and protests.
Have you ever felt like that yourself… clinging to something, but it is time to let go of it?
What is that one thing you can’t let go of?
This may be something that you know is wrong, or even bad for you. It is causing a distance between you and God. You know you need to let go of it, but you can’t.
Jesus loves you so much that He took the time to explain why you do want to let it go.
In this passage, Jesus is explaining how to get into God’s kingdom…
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve given up everything to follow you,” he said. “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property – along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life (Mark 10:27-30 NLT).
The disciples are amazed and thinking that it looks impossible to get in! And that is Jesus’ point here… no one can actually get into God’s kingdom without God’s help.
Note though… it is possible to get into God’s kingdom!
To get into God’s kingdom, you have to enter it God’s way. It is a spiritual entry by repenting of sin, which means let go of that one thing that is keeping you from God. It may seem impossible, but it is possible with God’s help!
Now notice what you will receive along with eternal life.
You won’t return to that wrong lifestyle. Instead, you will receive something that is one hundred times better! And it is a gift from Jesus. It is worth it!
Trust Jesus.
Father, in the quiet of my heart You speak to me… whispering, “Child, trust Me. I want the best for you.” Lord, help me know that it is worth it to let go and trust You. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
