Spiritual Crowns

Spiritual Crowns

He crowns you with faithful love and compassion.

Psalm 103:4 CSB

In the United States, we are not ruled by kings and queens. In fact, we tend to bristle at the idea. So why are we fascinated by royalty and regalia?

When my daughter was young, she had a princess birthday party. Each child was given one of those free cardboard crowns from Burger King. Something about a crown makes us feel special, even a cardboard one.

God has bestowed crowns on us! He crowns us with glory, honor, faithful love, and compassion (Psalm 8:5, 103:4). That should make us feel important!

You are so special that Jesus wore a crown of thorns so you could be crowned with splendor and beauty.

Several crowns are mentioned in the Bible that we will receive one day.

Imperishable Crown - awarded to those who finish the race of faith (I Corinthians 9:25 CSB).

Crown of Righteousness - There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing (2 Timothy 4:8 CSB).

Crown of Glory - And when the Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory (1 Peter 5:4 CSB).

Crown of Life - Jesus said, Be faithful to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life (Revelation 2:10 CSB).

Crown of Joy - Did you know that you will be someone’s crown? You believed in Jesus as a result of their testimony. What will be our proud reward and crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when he returns? It is you! (1 Thessalonians 2:19 NLT).

As my former pastor said, we won’t have our crowns long. They cast their crowns before the throne and say, ‘Our Lord and God, you are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because you have created all things, and by your will they exist and were created (Revelation 4:10-11 CSB). Whatever glory we have pales in comparison to God’s glory!
