A God Assignment
Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23 CSB
What neighborhood do you live in? Where do you work? Who do you live with? Where do you shop? Who do you often pass by without even noticing?
These are questions worth asking from time to time. They remind us that our location—physically, emotionally, spiritually—is not accidental.
Chris Tiegreen said: God has not placed us where we are simply for the output we can produce—whether at a factory, a desk, a school, or at home with children. He has put us there because that is a context in which He wants to display Himself.
Really? Even at my nail salon? At work? In my kitchen? On my street? Do I live like that’s true? Too often, I don’t. Busyness, exhaustion, even pain, can cause us to move through the day on autopilot—unaware of the people God places in our path.
I’d anticipate divine appointments—not just in church or ministry—but in line at the store, at school pickup, or over text to a hurting friend.
Paul reminds us in Colossians 3:23 that if serving Christ daily is to be my aim, I need to lift my eyes off my agenda and onto His. We don’t have to go out of our way to make a difference. Sometimes it’s as simple as a smile. Holding the door. Being kind when we’d rather rush by.
Yes, there’s work to do. But what blessings do we miss when we prioritize the to-do list over the people God places in front of us?
Where can you step into someone’s day today? Don’t overlook the moment—it may be exactly where God wants to display Himself through you.
Lord, let me see who You want me to see today. Use me in every encounter, big or small.
