Receiving
Everyone who asks receives.
Luke 11:10
My conversation with the young father confirmed that he received the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as a teenager. However, life intervened with painful and traumatic combat war experiences.
This young man’s quest for relief from unjust wartime realities sent him on a search. Rather than seeking answers from God and the body of Christ, he looked elsewhere. He concluded there were multiple gods rather than one God. He currently studies the Norse gods, a cultic religion.
He listened intently and respectfully as I confirmed the presence of many little gods. These little gods are believed to be fallen angels, the demonic influence behind gods of pagan religions*. There is only one true God, however, and His name is written with a capital G.
God’s Word contains the truths this young man seeks. The Bible offers answers for pain, suffering, and injustice, but it must be consulted and read with the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit and examined together with a wise teacher.
I pray that he will pursue truth from the Source of all Truth, Jesus Christ. When Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, He promises that “Everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Luke 11:10). His promise is true for me, for this young father, and for all who seek Him.
Father, thank You that I can come to You when I struggle with things I see and experience. I long to see this world redeemed and restored. Use me to come alongside those who seek so I can point them to You, the author of all restorative Truth. In His name I pray, amen.
