Psalm 119 -- Privileged

Psalm 119 -- Privileged

May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous. May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.

Psalm 119:171–173 NIV

Did you know that I am privileged? I really am. And, lest I sound arrogant or prideful, did you know you are privileged too if you believe and trust in God?

When I view the majesty of God’s artwork in a beautiful sunset, I feel privileged to have seen it. Have you seen one too? Have you experienced His handiwork in a mountain view or at the beach or in your own backyard?

Participating in a Spirit-filled worship service with fellow-Christians fills my heart with joy. What a privilege! God wants us and even goes so far as to direct us to worship together. He so blesses us when we do.

Friends sharing about God’s working in their lives. How exciting is that? What a privilege! God knew how much we needed such friends. He knows how another believer’s walk with him can inspire and spur us on.

Serving God alongside other believers, again, it is such a privilege and such an honor in which we can all share. Corporate acts of service bless us tremendously.

It is so easy to see the negative when we look around at our world, but as children of God, He gives us the privilege to also see His good. We see it in his creation, in our families, in our churches, and many other places if we keep our spiritual eyes open.

For this reason, my lips can overflow with praise. My tongue can sing of His word. I can relish in His righteousness and His precepts. If we believe in him as the one true God, he has us in his hands and stands ready to help us.

Father, your blessings overflow. Just the mere glimpse of your righteousness encourages us to praise and honor You. Thank you for that privilege.
