What Would Your Heart Scan Show?
Humans do not see what the Lord sees, for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.
Have you ever had an ultrasound, MRI, bone scan, X-ray or CT scan?
You may notice what all these have in common: they look for things in the body that you can’t see otherwise.
Three years ago, I had all of these except an X-ray. They were all looking for cancer.
Just by looking at the outside, I was the picture of health. A good weight for my height. Strong body. I exercised at least three times a week. I ate a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. I did all the right things.
Yet, the ultrasound and MRI confirmed cancer in my body — that I never suspected.
I think we can have a similar experience in our spiritual lives.
On the outside, we appear to have a healthy relationship with Christ. We go to church, read the Bible, and say all the right things.
Yet, God sees our motives and our hearts. He sees what others miss.
· Pride disguised as service
· Hidden resentment
· Sorry we got caught instead of real repentance
· Performance instead of love
We must regularly ask God to reveal to us what we cannot see. If we’re in Christ, we don’t need to fear condemnation. God reveals our hearts to restore and refine us.
My cancer required treatment that I could not do on my own. Likewise, our spiritual condition requires Christ’s redemption — something we cannot accomplish through any good deeds or willpower.
If you’re reading this and wondering whether you’re in Christ or not, you can know. We’ve outlined it for you here.
