THAT!
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.
Psalm 145:8 & 9 NIV
“Tida,” my five-year-old grandson began. “You know I will get as big as my older brother.” “No!” I responded, pretending to be sad, “You’re supposed to be my baby.” Without even hesitating, he pointed to our almost one-year-old granddaughter and said, “Tida, you don’t need another baby! You have THAT!”
He totally made an interesting assumption; I did have another baby. Although I would not describe her as “that,” I loved her like crazy, but that love did not just stop there. It continued to him and his brother as well. My heart has the capacity to love them all.
Let’s face it friends. God has many children and He loves each and every one of them. He does not play favorites. He does not get swayed by socio-economics, race, political affiliation, hobbies, talents, etc. God made us all and loves us all. We are all the “that-s”. Not one of us replaces the other.
What a thought on which to lean. In my mind’s eye I imagine his arms around me giving me a big bear hug, smiling, and sharing his love with me. I know I love to give my grandkids that kind of hug. I can also imagine him placing those floating heart emojis all over us.
When I feel down – “The Lord is gracious and compassionate.”
If I get a sense of making a mess of it all – “The Lord is slow to anger and rich in love.”
When I feel content – “The Lord has compassion on all he has made.”
When I get a sense of success – “The Lord is rich in love and good to all.”
“He has compassion on all he has made.”
God your love never changes. You supply it graciously no matter our circumstances. No where else can we experience this same love. We soak it in and praise your name.
