Confident Solutions
The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.
Psalm 25:14 & 15 NIV
Has anyone ever confided in you about something challenging going on in their life? Do you sit and listen carefully, praying as they tell their story or are you on the edge of your seat waiting to give them all of your insight about it? Maybe you have gone through the same thing and feel like you have just the answer they need. I have to admit I have done just that.
While reading the David and Goliath story I noticed this cautionary tale. Before David went into battle against the giant, Saul tried to get David to wear his armor and use his weapons. He wanted to give David an advantage by offering them up, but those items, custom made for Saul, did not fit David. God had a totally different defense for him – one that fit his skill set.
Most of us as women love to help and love to try to fix problems others have. While there is nothing wrong with sharing how we handled the same challenge, God holds the ultimate authority on what to do. Prayer, a crucial way to find out what the right next step entails, brings great wisdom and insight about God’s plan. It helps both the discouraged and the one trying to encourage.
What a great experience to draw near with a friend and pray. It may seem intimidating at first, but what great rewards it yields. Prayer draws the Lord in and proves his presence to us.
God, we have confidence in You no matter the size of our problems. Help us to be good listeners and to always point others to You. We trust your plan and your answers.
