Aging With Grace: Never Too Old

Aging With Grace: Never Too Old

Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.

Isaiah 46:4 ESV

God, the Father, is sometimes called “the Ancient of Days”—a title of respect, honor, and wisdom. I don’t know about you, but I’d prefer not to be referred to by age!

But there are some benefits to aging. Hopefully, we have more godly wisdom to impart to younger people. It’s okay to slow down our pace. Even when retired from work, we need never withdraw from life. There is usually more time to reflect and ponder God’s goodness and faithfulness. . . More time and flexibility to serve someone with a pressing need or mentor a younger woman. . . More time to pray and intercede for others. My brain isn’t as cluttered with stuff or preoccupied with as many tasks.

One of my favorite quotes has been attributed to the late theologian C.S. Lewis:

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”

Heavenly Father, You understand “old.” Thank You for carrying me and reviving my spirit as I physically age. I am never too old for You to love others well through me.
