So Much More!

So Much More!

“The LORD has done what He purposed…”

Lamentations 2:17 NKJV

I love asking the Lord to direct me to books of the Bible He would like me to study. However, I was less than thrilled when He directed me to…Lamentations. Seriously? Who studies Lamentations?  Well, YOU do if that is what the Lord says do. I thought it was in reference to a sad situation that our family was dealing with, but I soon realized that the Lord had so much more He wanted to say. I had no idea the lessons that awaited me in this little book of the Bible. I hope these life lessons from Lamentations will encourage you.

Lamentations is about, among other things, an unnecessary tragedy. An unwillingness to follow God, attempts to “do life” the way you want, and a stubborn heart will lead to costly and tragic circumstances. Lamentations describes a problem (that they created), a plea for help from God, their pledge of faith in Him and a promise to return to following God completely.

There was so much more the Lord wanted to give and do in their lives and they almost forfeited it because of careless and foolish choices. They listened to people around them more than God.

Lamentations also reminds us that the faithful love of the Lord never ends. His mercies are new every morning. His compassion will never fail us. The Lord is our help, let us put our trust in Him. I am convinced that God is working out something great in my life, even in this painful and difficult situation. Genesis 50:20 reminds us, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done…”. (NIV).

Friend, there is so much more! There is more than your eye can see and more than your mind can imagine.  “…there remains very much land (so much more!) yet to be possessed” (Joshua 13:1). NKJV

Pray today for the completion of God’s purposes in your life and circumstances.

Great is His Faithfulness!
