Seeing Something New

Seeing Something New

For God is working in you

Philippians 2:13 NLT

Have you read a note to yourself from the past and later… it spoke to you in a new way?

This happens to me sometimes.

As I write to encourage others, months later the same message has a new meaning to me.

Often with different circumstances, Jesus helps me see something… new.

I have this happen with Scripture too.

For example, in this passage…

Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you, And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him (Philippians 2:12-13 NLT).

In the past, I had always focused on my part to… work hard.

But this time, Jesus moved my focus in the verse to… for God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Jesus is the One doing it.

Jesus helps me show the results of my salvation… giving me the desire and power to obey Him reverently and respectfully.

My part is to stop trying to do it myself and let Him work in me.

Do you move aside and let Jesus do His work in you?

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… whispering move aside, let me help you. You encourage me to let go of my attempt to control and to rest in You. Help me be obedient and trust You. Thank You for giving me the desire and power to obey You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
