The Father’s Smile

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.

For by this our ancestors were approved.

Do you like to please others? I like to see people smile!

Sometimes there are other sweet things that are evidence of being pleased such as…

a baby’s responsive cuddle as she falls into her mama’s outreached arms;

a puppy’s tail wagging to a bowl of food; or

a cheerful, belly-filled family excitedly chattering over a special homecooked meal by mom.

The responses of others can speak volumes on approval.

Thankfully, God’s Word tells me what wins God’s approval…

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen. For by this our ancestors were approved… Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him (Hebrews 11:1-2, 6 CSB).

With God, it is faith that wins His approval.

To please God, I must believe that God exists… and to me, that really does make sense!

I love to picture the Lord’s pleasure when I believe Him, when I believe He exists, and believe in His Son, Jesus.  

I sense the Father’s smile toward me.

Father, in the quiet of my heart You speak to me… whispering, “Child, I am pleased that you believe Me and you believe in Me.” Lord, thank you for helping me have faith in You, even when my physical eyes do not see You. Thank You for helping me sense You spiritually and sense Your smile for me! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
