Silenced
Seated us with Him
Ephesians 2:6 NLT
Have you been at a restaurant and the noise level is so loud that you cannot hear the person seated right next to you? You can see their mouth moving, but you have no idea what they are saying. Frustrating, right?
Imagine the same scene, but all other sound is silenced. Now you can hear every word clearly. Amazingly helpful, right?
This is what God did for you when you trusted in Jesus…
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus… God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:4-6, 8 NLT).
In the spiritual or heavenly realm, I am seated with Jesus. This means it is possible for all other sound to be silenced so that I can hear Jesus.
I am given a private audience with the King!
When I seek to spend quiet time alone with Jesus in any form such as prayer, journaling, reading God’s Word, fasting and praying, breath prayers, and prayer walking, I am speaking to the King of the Universe, the King of everything! He has all wisdom, grace, and kindness and He wants to share it with me.
When I look at my quiet time with Jesus in that way, it takes on new meaning for me. I take it more seriously. I hope this has the same effect on you.
When questions and doubts enter my mind or I just can’t decide the right way to go, I remember who I am seated with in the heavenly realm: Jesus! I ask Him to help me!
I can even ask Jesus to silence the competing noise in my mind, so I can hear Him, and He will!
Father, in the quiet of my heart You speak to me… whispering, “Child, remember I have seated you with Jesus! Ask Him!” Lord, help me remember this truth and immediately turn to Jesus asking for anything! Help me remember to praise You and give You glory for this incredible gift! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
