A Little Like Heaven

A Little Like Heaven

What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived – the things God has prepared for those who love him…

1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

A perfect day for a drive through the country, my friend and I set out to find bluebonnets. We had heard about some good places to look, so with the GPS set for success, we headed out.

Along the way we spotted some interesting sights and even got some glimpses of the bluebonnets. We stopped a couple of times to take a few photos, but still waited for the spectacular.

Then we found it – the most beautiful field of bluebonnets and Texas wildflowers we had ever seen. The owner’s house sat on top of the hill and in front of it they had prepared the gorgeous sight.

A small graveled parking lot welcomed us to turn in, get out of our car, and explore. Trails led through the flowers and to perfect photo opportunities. Benches strategically placed and even a tractor to sit upon. I felt so special as I pondered how much work and preparation had gone into that place. Even as I shared the space with others, I could not help but imagine it had all been done for me.

In life, we set off on our course. God provides us with the method, the coordinates, and the guidance to get to the place he has prepared for us. Oh, we see glimpses along the way, but they cannot compare to the glory of our final destination as his children. My frail human mind cannot even conceive the majesty of heaven.

The key to getting there – belief in him. The mansions await. The glory abounds. The preparation already done. God loves us enough to do that for all of us and he would have done it for just one. Wow!

Oh Father, your glory is more than anything we can ever imagine. Thank you for preparing a place for those who believe in you.
