Friends Who Lead Us to Truth
Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.
Proverbs 27:6 NIV
Friends, we need people in our lives to tell us the truth — even when it’s hard.
Remember Monday’s hydrangea story?
My sweet friend messaged me to let me know those white hydrangeas were fake.
She wasn’t trying to be mean. She just wanted me to know this was no miracle flower. Her honesty pointed me toward truth and spared me from continuing to believe a lie. (And leading others to believe it.)
How much more do we need friends to gently and courageously tell the truth on spiritual and moral issues?
Why we need truth-tellers in our lives:
· We all have blind spots. Our hearts can trick us. Hebrews 3:13
· We sharpen each other’s ability to discern: Proverbs 27:17
· We are our sister’s keeper: James 5:19-20
· We’re all susceptible to Satan’s lies: Hebrews 3:13
Lord, thank you for my friends who point me toward You and Biblical truth. Help me to do the same for those around me.
