Finding the Peace of God
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
The enemy is a liar!
I had allowed Satan’s lies to overwhelm my thoughts to the point of having a panic attack. So much so, that I had my husband drive me to the ER because I knew something was terribly wrong. After running several tests the doctor came in and chuckled, “There is nothing wrong with your heart, in fact, your heart is better than mine!”
“What”!....”Really”?
I had allowed the enemy to tangle up my thoughts so much, that reality was hidden.
It was while I was reading Philippians 4:6-7, I noticed the process in which to find the peace of God. Here is what I found..
1. God’s Word says, “but in every situation, by prayer…”
I would often find myself not praying about the whole situation. I was more concerned about the outcome.
2. God’s Word says, “but in every situation, by prayer and petition…”
I would not petition or share my true need over the circumstance. God wants me to be honest with what my absolute deepest need is.
3. God’s Word says, “but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving…”
In a stressful situation, having a heart of thanksgiving is the furthest thing from my mind. Yet, God is asking me to be thankful. Yes, it is uncomfortable, it’s embarrassing, but being thankful shows my dependence on my Savior
4. God’s Word says, “but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” .Once you become open and honest with God, He then will allow the Holy Spirit to give you peace like you never felt before.
