Baby Steps

So come on… Grow Up in Christ.

Hebrews 6:1 MSG

Baby steps are so cute!

Little pudgy feet, wobbly, trying to move forward… step by step.

But think about spiritual steps… of the baby… of the mature.

As I think about what mine looks like, what about you?

 Consider this…

I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you’ve picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one – baby’s milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God’s ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong (Hebrews 5:11-14 MSG).

My footprint depends on… am I ready to make solid decisions and follow through?

Do I know the basics of God’s Word… and put into practice choosing right from wrong?

 This is maturing.

This is the encouragement from the Word…

So come on … Grow up in Christ. The basic foundational truths are in place: turning your back on “salvation by self-help” and turning in trust toward God; baptismal instructions; laying on of hands; resurrection of the dead; eternal judgment. God helping us, we’ll stay true to all that. But there is much more. Let’s get on with it! (Hebrews 6:1-3 MSG).

As I move from knowing to practicing right from wrong… Jesus picks up the pace in spiritual training.

As I change… I grow… my spiritual steps will mature in my journey with Jesus.

Bringing me into full stride alongside Jesus… He knows when I am ready.

 Grow.

 There is an adventure waiting.

This is adventure for you too! Grow!

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me saying I need to grow, to move forward in my spiritual training. I know this is Your Will for me. Help me grow. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
