You are a Letter

You are a Letter

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.

2 Corinthians 3:2

In highschool I had several friends who moved away but we continued to keep in touch by writing each other letters. It allowed me to catch up with what was happening in their lives. Reading their sweet words made it seem as if distance was not a hindrance to our relationship.

According to God’s Word, those who are followers of Jesus Christ, are also like letters, which are written to the world. As we go through our daily life, we can be sending an exciting message of hope, which is found in Christ. A message expressing joy and patience, which is given by the Holy Spirit. Sadly, we can also send a negative message by allowing our sinful nature to override our behavior. Therefore it is important to “walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).

As believers we have a huge responsibility to “show that you are a letter from Christ, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tables of human hearts” (2 Corinthians 3:3).

Just like the letters from my friends were uplifting and exciting to read, are we sending the same kind of message with our lives? The world is desperately needing to read your letter.

Dear Father, thank You for this reminder that I am a letter to the world, may I bring Your good news wherever I go.

Charity O
