She Saw the Groom. We Saw God’s Goodness.
I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Six months before her wedding, Ashley was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease — a rare condition that narrows arteries to the brain.
She went quiet in September and October. The news seemed too dark to share.
Praying was hard too. Tears rolled down Ashley’s face as she thanked God for His provision and begged Him for mercy. Even in this valley, she knew God would be with her. She found comfort and courage in her favorite verse: Joshua 1:9.
On November 17, she faced the first of two brain surgeries. She placed all her hope and faith in Jesus Christ — as she had done for many years.
After the surgery, she could not walk or talk. She had to relearn both before the next surgery on January 7.
Exactly one month before her wedding, Ashley went back into the operating room for round two. She recovered more quickly this time. The wedding would go on as planned.
On February 7, tears welled up in my eyes as I watched Ashley walk down the aisle while Goodness of God played. This wasn’t just a song. It was her life.
Long ago, Ashley decided to trust God. Her health struggles began in childhood with seizures, which stopped 14 years ago. Praise God! Now as she faces follow-up scans and an uncertain future, she continues to trust Him.

Ask God to keep you safe and hide you in His shelter.
Then, watch for God’s goodness in the land of the living. It does not always come like we expect. But it’s always there.
