A Friend by Your Side
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9
Have you noticed that hard and challenging circumstances can become easier when you have a friend by your side? You can keep going when you have a friend who walks beside you or encourages you.
● Serving on a mission trip, working 7 hours a day and finding yourself stretched to
the max.
● Driving early in the morning to the gym when your body is saying, “I want sleep!”
● Finding out difficult news from the doctor’s visit.
● Having a house full of sick kids with laundry a mile high.
● Walking through the tragic loss of a spouse, unsure if you can put one foot in
front of the other.
All of these difficult scenarios are easier to face when you have a friend by your side. Arm in arm, you can fight Satan when he tries to talk you into giving up or quitting.
Proverbs 17:17 says it this way, “A friend loves at all times.”
This proverb reminds me of the story of the paralyzed man in Mark 2. His friends carried him to the roof so Jesus could heal him. These men would not let a crowd of people stand in their way. They had a mission. They dug through the roof to lower their friend to Jesus.
Jesus noticed the faith of the friends and forgave the paralyzed man of his sins. Wow! Their faith in Jesus transformed their friend not only physically but spiritually as well.
Thank You Father for giving me friends who love me enough to walk with me through
the hard days.
