Fingerprints

Fingerprints

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Philippians 4:6 NLT

I looked out the back door window enjoying the country view of pine trees.

Something blurred my vision… I could see fingerprints.

I had just cleaned the glass… but there they were… again.

 I recognized the hand pattern.

Hmmm… I knew who the fingerprints were from.

God has fingerprints… And you can know they are from Him too.

 Have you ever noticed them?

Just like looking at the glass carefully… I can look at my life carefully… seeing them.

Each step I take with Jesus is a step of trust.

As I struggle or worry with my needs, God brings to my mind…

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (Philippians 4:6 NLT).

Step after step… need after need… God’s Spirit has encouraged me to trust Him… to pray.

And if I look for it… like the fingerprints… I will see the provision of God’s hand.

 Just like this Psalm says…

In my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to God for help… He reached down from heaven and rescued me (Psalm 18:6, 16 NLT).

Surprisingly, the more I cry out to God for help… and the more He rescues me… the more freely I trust Him.

 And this Psalm encourages…

those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. (Psalm 34:10 NLT).

Each time I notice the provision of God’s hand, it strengthens my trust in Him… it is a circle of trust.

But I must look for God’s fingerprints.

Try it. Where do you see God’s fingerprints in your life?

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me whispering, “Trust Me” and remind me to look for evidence of You. Help me clearly see Your fingerprints in my life as I look back over my past. Help me notice them in my future as I trust in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
