Beauty of Friendship
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2
I have never been without a friend. The Lord has always brought me friends even through the different journeys in life: moving away, disconnection, even death. The Lord always provided a new friend to come into my life.
Having a close friend is a gift from the Lord. David and Jonathan had a very special friendship. We read in 1 Samuel 18:1 that “Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself.”
Here is a beautiful poem describing relationships between friends.
Friendship Fruit
How blessed am I?
To have friends
Friends that light up my sky
The day we met
Changed my life
I see God’s light
In every smile that they make
Each teach me different things
Harmonize when all together
One taught me joy
In the mix of all life’s trials
Another I learned patience
For things I do not know
I understood love at its greatest
From the friend I just met
And goodness and peace
In ways that surpass me
The greatest of these
My friend closest to my heart
I saw faithfulness
Much more than I deserve
With people constantly entering
And exiting my life
This small group of people
Has made me feel more human
More loved
Than any others have managed before
