Circle of Friends
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
Psalm 133:1
When you have news to share, whether it’s exciting or traumatic, who are the first people you want to tell?
Your friends. The people who rally around you during great times and during hard times. The ones who encourage you and are honest with you when you need to hear the hard truth.
True friendships know everything about you – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and love you anyway. You enjoy life together, share countless stories, and encourage each other to look more like Jesus.
In Acts 12:5, we read how Peter had a tight group of friends. When King Herod had Peter thrown into prison this group of friends gathered to pray earnestly for him.
After he was miraculously rescued from prison he goes straight to his friends and found them praying. They were astonished to see him! God had answered their prayers!
True friendship takes time to cultivate, which makes it rare. When we recognize it as a valuable gift, we’re willing to be open and honest. We affirm the friendship by fighting the enemy on behalf of it.
Hold tight to your circle of friends. They are beautiful gifts from the Lord.
Dear Father, help me to be more like Peter’s friends who earnestly pray for my circle of friends.
